How to Make the Perfect Game Day Dip in 5 Easy Steps | Wisconsin Cheese Talk

We’re getting ready for the Big Game this week with lots of cheesy bites to feed even the hungriest team. No game day party is complete without a cheesy, creamy dip, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorite recipes and our fool-proof tips for creating your own dip with your favorite cheeses and add ins.

Create your own party dip with these 5 easy steps:

1. Whip up a 2-ingredient base

Whether you’re making a hot or cold dip, start with this two-ingredient base:

  • 8 ounces Wisconsin cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Beat in medium bowl with electric mixer.

2. Add your favorite Wisconsin cheese (or three)
Add 1 1/2 to 2 cups of shredded or crumbled Wisconsin cheese. For bold flavor, choose cheeses like asiago, blue, feta, parmesan or pepper jack. Or keep it on the milder side with colby or swiss.

For dips served hot, include a good melting cheese like cheddar, gouda, havarti, monterey jack or mozzarella.

3. Customize with add ins
Mix in about 1 1/2 cups of cooked meat (chicken, bacon, ham, salami, sausage), vegetables (onions, mushrooms, peppers, olives, artichokes) and/or fruit (apple, pineapple, dried cherries or cranberries).

4. Season your creation
Add flavor with hot sauce, mustard, red chile flakes, garlic or fresh herbs (basil, chives, cilantro, parsley, thyme). Don’t forget the salt and pepper!

5. Bake or chill
For hot dips, bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

For cold dips, cover and chill at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
